Whole Washington Walks - Walk When You Want
Donate Now

Goal $750.00

Thank you, friends! You made our initial goal of $500 and are now reaching for a new goal of $750.

We're raising money for a Universal Healthcare Initiative

Whole Washington Walks means 'taking real steps to Universal Healthcare.'

We feel the urgency of 522,000 Washingtonians without health insurance and more who are underinsured.

Our initiative ensures every resident will have high quality, comprehensive healthcare from providers of our own choice. Vision, dental, behavioural health, and reproductive services are included.

No co-pays or deductibles! No charge at point of service!

And prescription drugs? Generics are totally covered. If a generic isn't available, the MOST we'll pay is $250 per adult per year.

The best news? No gaps in coverage! Your healthcare isn't tied to your job, spouse or parent, and there's no such thing as a pre-existing condition. You're covered.

It's time we make Universal Healthcare a reality. Please sponsor me as I walk to raise money for this initiative campaign. We'll start gathering signatures in March 2020!

Please Donate or Pledge to Blaine and Sarah's Walk-a-Thon.

Sarah and I will be walking on September 22 or 29. We are planning for 5-7 miles.

Please support our efforts if you can by donating or pledging to Whole Washington. Any amount will be very much appreciated and will help us reach our goal.

We have been volunteering with Whole Washington for about a year and a half. This is a volunteer-led, grassroots organization of everyday people who volunteer tirelessly as part-time activists to make life better for everyone. So you can be sure that your donation is going directly toward critical operating expenses, rather than costly overhead.

Our membership has grown to thousands of people and we expect to succeed in our 9 month campaign in 2020 to make the Whole Washington Trust a reality in 2021. But, we need your help to fund our volunteer effort.

Here's why this walk is important to me.

Like many of you, my family and friends have chronic healthcare needs, like MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Type I Diabetes. Our current system of paying for the doctor visits, drugs, and other treatments doesn't work very well for many people, and not at all for some. Even regular wellness checkups can be a hardship for many people.

Today, in the United States, we ration health care based on ability to pay. Un- or under-insurance causes tens of thousands of Americans to die each year and many more are driven to bankruptcy.

More than 80 other countries provide some form of universal healthcare. We can, too!

Along with groups like National Nurses United and Physicians for a National Health Program, Whole Washington supports national efforts, like Rep. Pramila Jayapal's H.R. 1384, the Medicare for All Act of 2019. But if those efforts get stalled in D.C., we are working on our own state-based system. (That's how Canada did it!)

The Whole Washington plan will save Washington residents and businesses over $9 billion per year, while covering everyone. Check out our economic study by renowned expert Dr. Gerald Friedman on the website, and like us on Facebook!
